The opening ceremony was compered in English and Chinese by 2 local DJs from the radio stations. Speeches were delivered by the President of the Working Committee, Mr Sua Sin Zang; the President of the Starhunter Astronomical Society, Mr Bobby Chiam; Honorary President, Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew; and Guest-of-Honour YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat.

 Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew is a renowned philanthropist and the owner of Mines. He is an ardent supporter of the arts and science, contributing generously in various projects, including this exhibition.

 After the speeches, the exhibition was officially opened by the Guest-of-Honour with a press of a button; The Meade LX200 swung into action and illuminated the exhibition banner on the centre stage.

| The highlight of the opening ceremony
was the presentation of the MBR Endorsement Award by Mr
Danny Ooi from the Malaysian Book of Records, signed by
YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat, witnessed by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew,
Tan Sri Datuk Amar K T Yong and Advisors.

were invited to view the exhibits. Here, Mr Lin Qisheng
of Taiwan is explaining to YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat the
various aspects of his astrophotographic works.
